Yuen Biao joined the Peking Opera School which was recommended by his opera loving father when he was 6 years old. Soon after, he was selected the youngest member of the Seven Little Fortunes and took part in many performance shows and some small roles in minor movies. After graduation, since Bruce Lee's death had brought the Hong Kong movie industry a huge fall, Biao worked in some night clubs performing kung-fu shows to make a living. He then went over to the States accompanied by some of his old school mates and his former opera teacher to do some shows overseas, but after a short while the business went down and the performance troupe split up. Yuen instead of returning to Hong Kong decided to stay in new York, working at a cassette tape factory. When he got the report that action movies are coming back to the Hong Kong box office, he went back, first working with Sammo choreographing, played some minor roles, then was chosen as Bruce's stunt-double in the movie "Game of Death"
Married DiDi Phang in June, 1983 with whom he met while he worked as a choreographer for the movie "Pick Pocket."
Though slightly small built, Biao is a highly talented individual with a great sense of acrobatic action. Some of the movies you can fully appreciate his moves are "Righting Wrongs (aka Above the Law)", "Dragons Forever" and "Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars".
